Little Flower Medical Research Centre (LFMRC)
It was during 1987 on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations, a small research division was started at Little Flower Hospital Angamaly.
Soon, the management and the Director of LF Hospital, Msg. George Manikkanamparambil recognized the need for a Research Centre and Little Flower Medical Research Centre (LFMRC) came into being with Dr. J.K.Mukkadan as the Research Director with the blessings of his eminence Antony Cardinal Padiyara on 11th November 1989 to conduct Research in Basic Medical Sciences with the following objectives:
- To undertake scientific research in medical sciences in both basic and applied fields
- To institute training programs and courses of studies in medical and allied medical disciplines
- To conduct D. programme in basic medical sciences
- To provide facilities for early detection of disease and to conduct detection camps for providing epidemiological data for research
- To promote, develop and improve scientific knowledge by technical corporation and mutual exchange of medical research personnel among research institutions with similar interests and objectives
- To conduct conferences, refresher courses, lecture and seminars in basic medical subjects
- To print, publish and subscribe to periodical books, pamphlets or posters for the promotion of research in the field of basic medical sciences
- To provide-institute fellowships or scholarships , stipends, awards, prices and remuneration or other payments to students and research scholars to facilitate their understanding of scientific research in basic medical sciences
Mahatma Gandhi University recognized this department as a research Centre in physiology for Ph.D. programme during 1991 and Dr.Mukkadan became the Ph.D. guide for Physiology. This Research Centre was inaugurated on 17th August 1991 by Dr. P.N.Tandan, Prof. of neurosurgery at AIIMS, New Delhi in
the presence of Dr. Manchanda, Prof. of Physiology, AIIMS, New DELHI. It probably is the first and only Research Centre in Physiology in India in the mission hospital sector.
Thus, Little Flower Hospital became Little Flower Hospital and Research Centre during 1991.
Kerala University of Health Science [KUHS] granted recognition as Centre of research to the following departments at Little Flower Hospital.
